Kurtosh
$Hungarian chimney cakes baked over coals at West Village
Watch a Hungarian kürtőskalács being rolled onto a spit, baked over coals, and rolled in cinnamon, walnut, or chocolate while you wait. Kurtosh is a Sydney-born bakery that opened in Brisbane at Shop TR-06, 111 Boundary Street, in the West Village retail precinct. The chimney cakes (the namesake) are the headline act, but the cabinet also runs a long line of Central European pastries — strudels, slices, layered cakes — alongside espresso and hot chocolate. Open 7am to 10pm seven days, so it works equally well as a morning coffee stop or a post-dinner dessert detour from West End or South Bank.
