About this spot

Swim off a sandy beach inside a national park fifteen minutes from the CBD. Enoggera Reservoir sits behind the Walkabout Creek Discovery Centre at The Gap, with a designated swimming area, a paddle craft launch point, and bushland running right down to the water. You can hire kayaks, canoes and paddleboards from Walkabout Creek Adventures on the foreshore. Motorised boats are banned, so the water stays quiet. The reservoir is open 6am to 6pm daily and parking fills fast on hot weekends.

Local tips

Stuff your mates would tell you.

Swimming is only permitted inside the designated area, not anywhere else on the reservoir

Watch your step in waist-deep water, because that is where the catfish sit. They will bite!

Seqwater closes the water to swimming after heavy rain, so check their alerts before driving out

Get there before 10am on a hot Saturday or you will not find a park

The same car park is the trailhead for D’Aguilar walking and mountain bike trails
